Although I am new at St. Joseph School, I have been a teacher for over 30 years and am honored to teach music at St. Joseph.  I enjoy teaching music to age 3 through grade 8.  I love singing, dancing, folk music, and playing folk instruments such as the lap dulcimer, bodhran, didgeridoo, and Irish whistle.  I am an Orff music education specialist.  This music method emphasizes learning music by ear, movement and playing special instruments.  It is truly rewarding to share my expertise and experience with my students at St. Joe's.

I have doctoral and masters degree in Music Composition from Ohio State University, but grew up on the east coast in Delaware.  I hold a B.S. in Music Education from the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware.  My compositions include those for children, electronic media, voice, piano choir, organ, solo instruments, wind ensemble and orchestra.  There have been performances of my works in places such as California, Ohio, and Tennessee of this country and in Paris, France, and Buenos Aires, Argentina.  I began playing the piano at age six and have several private students.

I was recognized by the Ohio Music Teachers Association for 30 years of service to Music Education.  I'm a published author. My latest article, "Adapting Responsive Classroom Techiques to the Music Classroom" was published in the Responsive Classroom Summer Newsletter in 2015.  I was selected as a University Intern, Wexner Center for the Arts.  The Ohio State University, in its 1990 Professional Development Program.  I founded and led the Central Ohio Composers Association.

I have a wonderful husband, Bob, also a composer, and live in Lebanon, Ohio.  My hobbies are native and vegetable gardening and I have a small business (GoNativesNow) in Lebanon, Ohio that grows and sells plants native to this area.
